Community Justice

Community justice is both a method and a frame of mind in which we approach crime reduction and prevention. “Community justice policies must confront crime and delinquencies through proactive, problem solving practices aimed at prevention, control, reduction and reparation of the harm crime has caused.” Core values of community justice include:

  • Striving to repair the harm caused by crime to individual victims and communities.
  • Working to prevent crime and its harmful effects; doing justice by addressing problems rather than merely processing cases.
  • Promoting community protection through proactive, problem solving work practices plus interventions aimed at changing criminal behavior and delinquent behavior.

In keeping with the values of the Casper Police Department, it is our continued goal to foster community partnerships. For more community partnership information, please click on ‘Youth & Adult Community Service Program’ or ‘Community Oriented Policing’.
