The Office of Professional Standards is responsible for the intake, investigation, and review of external complaints against Casper Police Department employees, responding to inquiries from the public regarding department policies and procedures, and intake and documentation of employee commendations. The Office of Professional Standard is also responsible for the initiation, investigation, and review of internally generated investigations of police employees.
In some cases, Office of Professional Standards is responsible for conducting an associated investigation; in others, Office of Professional Standards is responsible for tracking and coordinating investigations and review activity. In all cases, Office of Professional Standards is responsible for maintaining the documentary records associated with internal and external investigations, inquiries related to department policies and procedures, and employee commendations.
The program is responsible for researching, creating, and maintaining comprehensive, professionally sound policies and procedures to guide employees of the Casper Police Department.
