The Casper Police Department Animal Protection Unit is proud to offer a basic dog obedience class to the community.
This class will take place from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm every Sunday beginning September 12th at Wells Park in Casper. Interested participants can attend one, or all of the individual classes. Each class will teach the same lessons: learning lead control, behavioral corrections using various tools, the timing for rewards, and applying basic obedience commands- Sit, Down, Stay, Recall, Heel. The class will allow the community to receive affordable training and will assist in the community have better-behaved dogs when out socializing.
This class is facilitated by our team of highly trained Animal Protection Officers and lead by Animal Protection Officer Price. This class is open to all citizens of Natrona County, 16 years of age and older. Participants under 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the waiver. Children under the age of 16 are not permitted to participate; however, they are welcome to attend the ‘Fun Obedience Competition Day’ (more information below.) Participating dogs must be fully vaccinated and owners must bring proof of vaccination. Dogs with any known aggressive behaviors towards other dogs or humans are not permitted to attend the course. All participants must sign the waiver of liability.
The class sessions will conclude on October 23rd with a ‘Fun Obedience Competition Day’ from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm where participants and their dogs can compete to win prizes and show off their newly learned skills and participate in a Halloween Costume Contest!
If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, test positive or have been exposed, please do not come to the class.
A $5.00 donation to the Casper Humane Society is required for each participant. Donations can be made the day of the class with cash, or online through the Casper Humane Society’s PayPal by clicking here (please bring proof of payment to the class).
