Officer Involved DUI Crash [VIDEO]

Shortly before 10:00pm on Thursday, January 30th, 2020, two Casper Police Officers were conducting a traffic stop on the overpass bridge on Yellowstone Highway. Officers were in the vehicle when a suspected impaired driver crashed into the patrol vehicle at an estimated speed of 40 MPH.

Officers immediately ensured the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved. All six individuals occupying the three vehicles were treated at the hospital for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Because this crash involved a Casper Police vehicle, the Wyoming Highway Patrol and Natrona County Sheriff’s Office took over the scene. Casper Fire-EMS along with Emergency Medical Services responded as well.

Thankfully, this incident did not result in life-threatening injuries; however, it seriously damaged three vehicles, sent six people to the hospital, utilized the vital emergency services of half a dozen agencies on scene, and shut down a major road for hours.

This ALL could have been avoided.

Please, never drink and drive. Never drive impaired. Always move over for stopped or emergency vehicles. Pay attention to road conditions and drive accordingly.

We have a winter storm warning coming in on Super Bowl Sunday – we do not want to see this happen again.

The Casper Police Department is absolutely dedicated to the protection and safety of our community. But we need your help to do that. We know we are #BetterTogether
