Today, we have received multiple reports of individuals receiving phone calls appearing to be from the non-emergency phone number for the Casper Police Department (307-235-8278).

The scammer tells the recipient he or she is a friend or family member currently in jail. The scammer goes on to ask the recipient of the call for money.

If you receive one of these scam calls, please hang up immediately and do not provide the caller with any information. You may also contact the Casper Police Department at 307-235-8278 to report instances of this scam call or to verify the authenticity of a call from our organization.

“Any report of a scam call is concerning but when scammers are using an official police department number it’s particularly crucial to get the word out,” said Casper Police Public Information Officer Rebekah Ladd. “We ask that our community help to spread this message to prevent anyone from being victimized by this scam.”
