The annual Central Wyoming Fair and PRCA Rodeo Parade will take place in downtown Casper at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 9th, 2019.
Changes to the parade route were made in partnership between fair organizers, the City of Casper and the Casper Police Department.
Through collaboration with these organizations, evaluation, and feedback from business owners and citizens, numerous issues were identified with the previous route.
The primary reason for the route change was to increase safety for those participating in and observing the parade.
The original parade route was established in the 1950s. Since then, the city has drastically changed and grown. Traffic patterns and flow have altered dramatically. The original parade route was also having a significant impact on downtown traffic and parking. It also made it extremely difficult to get from one side of town to another for drivers.
When enjoying the parade, CPD would like to remind you to practice safety. Do not run out into the street, supervise children, and stay hydrated. Please only park in designated parking spots. If you are driving in the area at the time of the parade, please obey all signage and road closures.
The attached map designates the new route, beginning and end points, staging areas, and public parking lots.
The parade will begin at 10:00 am at the intersection of Ash Street and West Yellowstone Highway and end at the intersection of Center Street and 9th Street.
The parade route and staging areas will be closed beginning at 6:00 am, Tuesday, July 9th. Vehicles parked in these areas and parked curbside in these areas at this time will be subject to being towed at the owner’s expense.
The parade route will be closed to all vehicle traffic beginning at 8:00 am on Parade Day. If you wish to set out chairs to view the parade, please do so before 8:00 am.
Curbside parking will be available on streets not highlighted for use during the parade; however, CPD advises spectators to park outside of the immediate surrounding area of the route due to the congested pedestrian traffic.
Handicap parking will be available at 222 East Collins, the old Plains Furniture parking lot.
If you work or reside within this area, CPD encourages you to plan ahead in regard to travel and parking availability.
CPD also requests for the safety, security, and enjoyment of those participating in and watching the parade to avoid the use of personal drones other flying crafts.
The Casper Police Department is dedicated to the safety of our community and we are honored to be a part of this long-standing Casper tradition.
